DESIGN HISTORY (From Hermes Carre Stories):

"Adventurous madness of the first aeronauts putting their life at danger, and extravagant madness of the sponsors and spectators financing their feats! On 21st November 1783, the aerostat of Étienne Montgolfier, French industrialist and inventor, flew over Paris for a mere twenty-five minutes. All projects portrayed on the carré Les soies volantes (revealing eighteen unexpected ways to play balloon!), alas, never heralded celestial glory. Designed in the 18th and 19th centuries, some never saw the day, remaining as records on paper in the silent depths of Invalides Museum. Precious evidence of man's dream to go "up, up and away"!
